A.Salon has been serving the greater DC community for 30 years. An outgrowth of numerous arts collaborations, A.Salon’s main purpose is to serve the arts community and to provide studio, teaching and exhibition space for area artists. At present ca 60% of A.Salon members live in Washington, DC. The rest live in Maryland and Virginia and most of them work in DC. Because we are two blocks from the Takoma Metro, many of our event audience members also come from the district.

Objectives
A.Salon is always working within our community to be the place where so much of the art is made and where the plans are laid for organizations that, later, have ventured out to become institutions in DC. A.Salon has always been a great collaborator and incubator site, and functions as an important part of the areas art infrastructure.

Mission
A.Salon’s purpose is to provide low-cost artists’ studios, easily accessible exhibition spaces, and art teaching spaces in the Washington area, with a spirit of cooperation - artists working together to improve their professional lives, and joining with other organizations when new program opportunities arise.
